HDFS 895 Families in Poverty Dr. julia Miller, ph. d.
This course expanded my breadth and depth of knowledge about poverty and the plight of the poor. I interpreted various theories around poverty and determined the effects that poverty has on students. I analyzed social policies that influence and impact the well-being of individuals, families, and communities. Despite me being incredibly disheartened by the plight of the poor, I gained the knowledge and inspiration to design a school that not only enhances the lives of the students who attend, but also elevates the condition of the community where the school is located.
